SUCTION HOOD
1. Canopy hood / Top Suction Hood
Most common and efficient type of Suction Hood, the natural tendency of the hot fumes is to rise and go upwards so the Hood is placed above the operating crucible of an induction Furnace/ Source of Pollution.
The Hood is Mounted In between Two Crucibles and can be easily Rotated with The Help Of Motorized Swivel Bearings From One crucible to other with Click Of a button.
Salient features
- Highest Suction efficiency up to 99%
- Low capital & running cost
- Beneficial for sized scrap with both manual and automatic scrap charging
- Suitable for any capacity furnaces
LIMITATIONS
- Direct scrap charging in furnace (i.e. by magnet / graber) can be done only by moving the hood away from furnace.
- Separate secondary FES is required
2. Side draft / Side Suction Hood
An user friendly design to allow user to work without any limitation of scrap charging methods and metal pocking. Currently the most commonly used type of hood place at the slides of furnace.
The side suction hood is provide with a specially designed booster fan installed within the hood to boost up suction. The hood is mounted in between two crucibles and can be easily rotated with the help of motorized Swivel Bearings from one crucible to other with click of a button.
Salient features
- Beneficial For any Size of Scrap.
- Suitable for both manual and automatic scrap charging, including overhead crane operations using a magnet or grabber.
- Suction efficiency Up to 85-90%
- Offers easy operation and higher production with a slight increase in capital and running costs compared to canopy hoods.
- Suitable For Any Capacity Furnaces
LIMITATIONS
- Since Installed on Furnace Sides needs Special Care to Avoid Wind Cross Current or any external force which may divert Fumes.
- Separate Secondary FES is Required
3. Enclosed / Doghouse Hood
The evolution in Induction Furnace capacities which is now up to 60MT needed a fast and seamless scrap charging rates to match the production targets and ultimately resulted with a rapid fume generation which has made designers of Pollution Control System to come up with a evolved hood design.
A specially designed hood based on a basic principle to contain the fumes in a confined area is called as Enclosed/ Doghouse hood which completely covers the working crucible of Induction Furnace.
The Hood size as big as a house (20mts * 10mtr * 15mtr) allows to carter all operations of Induction Furnace covered within these hood. The hood is mounted on a trolley and can be easily moved from one crucible to other with click of a button.
Salient features
- Beneficial For Any Sized Of Scrap With Automatic Scrape Charging.
- Suction efficiency Upto 95%.
- A single system integrates both primary and secondary fume extraction.
- Lower capital and operating costs compared to separate primary and secondary systems.
- Suitable For Furnace Capacity Between 10T – 60T
LIMITATIONS
- Overhead Crane’s Can Not Be Used For Any Operation While Hood On Position
