Fumes escaping the primary pollution control system from steel melting or refining furnaces, continuous casting machines (CCM), or processes like reheating and vessel lining are captured by the secondary hood positioned at the top of the shed.

The shed has to be sealed in order to have effective secondary FES. The left over fumes must need to reach to top hood and to be contained inside the shed at monitor in order to allow the secondary FES to extract in few minutes time as per its capacity.
